Refresh your smile with dental veneers
At Bulimba Dental we offer two types of veneers: porcelain and composite resin.
Dental veneers are one of the most effective restorative procedures for teeth that are chipped, stained or discoloured, are crooked or have gaps between them.
These veneers are thin shells that are bonded to the front of your teeth, to enhance the appearance of your smile. The process for porcelain veneers involves impressions of your teeth being taken and then a small amount of enamel being removed. Porcelain veneers are stain resistant, strong and can correct a number of imperfections.
Composite resin veneers
There are two options with composite resin veneers: it can either be directly bonded to your tooth or it can be applied like porcelain veneers. The difference is that direct bonding is when the veneer is straight away built on the tooth—there is no fabricating a veneer in a laboratory.
Dental veneers and your smile
Veneers are finely crafted from either thin pieces of porcelain or composite resin. When bonded to the front surface of your teeth, veneers become incredibly strong and durable, capturing the look you’ve always wanted, with minimal disturbance to your tooth surface.
The material used for dental veneers means that they are colour matched to your teeth for a seamless appearance. If the proper oral hygiene routine is followed your veneers can last for many years.
Having health teeth prior to treatment
Optimal oral health significantly contributes to the success and longevity of your new veneers, so our team may prescribe a stringent oral hygiene routine for several weeks prior to your treatment.
While dental veneers can be used to give teeth a straighter appearance, it should be noted that they are not a substitute for orthodontic work. If you do require orthodontic work we can refer you to our visiting orthodontist Dr Daxter Yeo who can provide you with the best form of orthodontic treatment.
It also be noted that while dental veneers are stain resistant this does not mean that they are stain proof—you will still need to maintain good oral hygiene and restrict the amount of coffee, red wine and tea that you drink if you wish to keep your smile whiter for longer.
At Bulimba Dental we work closely with our patients to provide them the best in dentistry. If you are looking for an effective way to whiten and refresh your smile then dental veneers may be the best option for you.
