Dental veneers
Dental veneers are thin shells of porcelain that are bonded to the front of your tooth for an aesthetically pleasing appearance. The colour and shade of the dental veneers are colour-matched to your natural teeth for a seamless smile. This is an effective treatment for teeth that are cracked, chipped, crooked or discoloured. When veneers are bonded to the front of your teeth they become very strong and durable, with minimal disturbance to your tooth surface.
Crowns and bridges
A dental crown can do two things for your smile. Firstly, it can protect and strengthen a damaged tooth, thereby saving it from extraction. Secondly, it can be used to achieve a beautiful, straight smile.
If you’ve had root canal therapy or a particularly bad filling, your Bulimba Dental dentist may recommend a dental crown to protect the tooth from further damage. While root canal therapy can save your tooth from extraction, it does leave the tooth structure weak. A dental crown covers the weakened tooth protecting and strengthening it. Like dental veneers a dental crown can be colour-matched to your natural teeth so that no one will know you’ve got a dental crown.
A Dental bridge can be used to replace one or more missing teeth to help restore your smile. A bridge attached to two dental crowns that are placed over the healthy teeth either side of the gap. By replacing a missing tooth with a bridge you are looking after the health of the surrounding teeth.
White fillings
Unlike the traditional amalgam fillings, white fillings are tooth coloured and sculpted onto your tooth for a flawless look. Colour-matched to your natural tooth colour, white fillings are a mixture of acrylic resin, fine glass and silicon particles. The white filling is sculpted and polished to match your surrounding teeth for a beautiful smile.
White fillings are stronger and better for you than amalgam fillings because amalgam fillings expand and contract with hot and cold food and drink. This has caused teeth to crack needing dental crowns.
