What’s involved

A dental implant is a titanium screw that is surgically inserted into your jawbone. It can take anywhere from 3 to 6 months for your jawbone. The length of time it takes for your jaw to heal around the dental implant depends on:

Your overall health
Your body’s ability to heal
Whether the implant was placed in the upper or lower jaw: if the implant is placed in the upper jaw it may take longer to heal.

Once your jawbone has healed around the dental implant it will provide a solid foundation to which a crown or bridge may be secured.
