Restoring form and function to your smile
At Bulimba Dental in Oxford street we offer a number of treatments that can both restore function and aesthetics to your smile. For example: dental crowns are typically used to protect and strengthen a weak or damaged tooth. However, they are increasingly being used for cosmetic purposes to give people beautiful straight-looking smiles.
The same can be said of a dental bridge. Not only do dental bridges replace a missing tooth, but because they are made of porcelain they can match the colour and shade of your natural teeth.
If you want to restore form and function to your smile, contact Bulimba Dental to find out how we can help you.
Crowns are one of the strongest long-term solutions when restoring a single tooth back to its full function and appearance. Made from high-grade dental ceramic, a crown can be placed when damage or extensive dental work is too widespread for fillings. Though traditionally used for reconstructive purposes, crowns are increasingly used in cosmetic dental procedures to achieve a beautiful, straight smile.
It takes two appointments to place a dental crown. The first appointment is where a mould of your tooth is taken and prepared for the dental crown. When the impression is made it is sent off to our lab to be made. At the end of your first appointment a temporary crown will be placed over your tooth.
The second appointment is when the temporary crown is removed and your new more permanent crown is cemented into place. If looked after properly, a dental crown can last up to ten years. Looking after a dental crown is the same as looking after your natural teeth—all you need to do is brush and floss regularly as well as avoid sugary foods and drinks.
A bridge can be used to replace several missing teeth, helping to restore your smile. A bridge is held by crowns secured to sound teeth on either side of the space, which prevent your adjacent teeth from moving into the vacant space and opposing teeth moving out of alignment.
To ensure the long-term success of your treatment, your Bulimba Dental dentist will conduct a thorough examination and careful preparation, prior to receiving your crown or bridge.
The process for a dental bridge is similar to a dental crown. It takes two appointments and requires you to wear a temporary bridge while your more permanent bridge is made.
A bridge is also similar to a dental crown in that it can last up to ten years if looked after properly.
